FOR TAKEAWAYS

Stop paying a third of every order to someone else

A takeaway does not have a margin problem. It has a commission problem. The food costs what it costs, the rent is the rent, and then often 25–35% of the ticket leaves before you have touched it. The fix is not cheaper cheese — it is your own ordering channel, with the same order landing on the same screen.

A takeaway’s own branded ordering app on two phones: the menu, and the basket with delivery or collection

Sound familiar?

Three tablets on the counter, three different beeps, one kitchen trying to follow all of them.

The phone rings mid-rush and the order goes onto the back of a receipt.

The busiest Friday of the year and the commission invoice still takes the best of it.

What changes

Your own ordering site at 0% commission, with a branded iOS and Android app on request

Delivery and collection with the address and the time on the ticket

Deliveroo orders brought onto the same screen as the rest

Phone orders in seconds: on an Android till, caller ID shows who is ringing, and one tap opens their order with their details on it

Your customer list stays yours — with their order history, to market to again

Card at the counter, pay by link on the phone, cash reconciled the same night

One service, start to finish

  1. The order comes in

From your app, your site or the phone — all of it arrives in one queue.

  2. The kitchen sees it

One screen, one list, oldest order first — not by which tablet beeped.

  3. It goes out

Collection or delivery, with the address printed and the payment already taken.

  4. You close

One end of day across every channel, and no commission line to subtract.

Do the sum on your own numbers

Take last month’s marketplace orders and multiply by the commission rate. That figure is not marketing — it is a line you already paid. On £8,000 of orders at 25% it is £2,000 a month, £24,000 a year, out of the part of the business that has no food cost attached to it.

There is a calculator on the pricing page that does this with your own numbers. Put in what you actually turn over through the apps and see the annual figure written down.

Nobody expects you to switch overnight

The venues that do best with this do not delete their marketplace listings on day one. They keep them, put their own app in front of the customers who already order every week — the flyer in the bag, the QR on the counter, the text to a repeat customer — and let the mix shift over a few months. The marketplace keeps bringing new people; the regulars move across, because ordering direct is cheaper for them too.

The phone is still a sales channel

A surprising share of takeaway orders still arrive by phone, and they are the ones most likely to go wrong in a rush. Customer search finds a regular by name or number with their past orders, so their usual is a tap away. On an Android till with caller ID, their name is on the screen before you pick up, and one tap opens a takeaway or delivery order with their details already on it.

See it before you decide

The user guide shows what each app does: start with Online Ordering and Yumee Restaurant. To see the screens themselves, book a demo and we will show you on your own menu.

Kebab shops and pizza shops

Two kinds of takeaway have a page of their own: kebab shops, where every item comes with a bread, a salad and two sauces, and pizza shops, where every pizza comes in sizes with toppings priced by size.

Guides for takeaways

Free guides based on official sources: VAT on takeaway food, the real cost of delivery app commission, questions to ask before you choose an EPOS, opening a takeaway, Natasha’s Law labels, business rates, right to work checks, fire and gas safety and data protection and CCTV. All of them are on the guides page.

The setup that usually fits

Tabteck Trio

A tablet till, a card machine and a receipt printer. It takes up almost no counter and it is the setup most takeaways start on.
